Brewers sign Mark Reynolds to minor-league contract

The Brewers have signed 1B/3B Mark Reynolds to a minor-league contract that includes an invite to major-league spring training, the team announced on Friday. CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman first reported that the Brewers were angling to land Reynolds.

Heyman adds that Reynolds's deal is for $2 million plus $500,000 in possible incentives if he makes the roster. As far as making the roster goes, Reynolds is, according to Heyman, "all but a lock" to be on the Brewers' 25-man.

Reynolds, 30, hit .220/.306/.393 (96 OPS+) with 21 home runs in 135 games for the Indians and Yankees in 2013. For his career, he owns an OPS+ of 108 and 202 homers across parts of seven major-league seasons.

In Milwaukee, the right-handed-hitting Reynolds will likely spend his time at first base, either as the primary or as the light half of a platoon with Juan Francisco.
