Jim Rome



 

Jim Rome is one of the most respected voices in the world of sports broadcasting and leading opinion-makers of his generation. Best known for his aggressive, informed, rapid-fire dialogue, Rome has established himself as the top choice of athletes and fans when it is time to know what is going on beyond the scoreboard. His popular syndicated program "Rome Is Burning" signed off in January 2012 after six successful years and he also served as host of "The Last Word with Jim Rome" and ESPN2's "Talk2." Rome recently signed a multi-year agreement with CBS contributing across a variety of platforms.  Along with his weekday half-hour ROME show on CBS Sports Network, he provides commentary and coverage for CBS Sports and CBSSports.com.  Rome also hosts an entertainment and sports talk series for Showtime.

Report: 49ers not expected to pick up Aldon Smith's 5th-year option


May 3 is the deadline for picking up fifth-year options for players taken in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Aldon Smith is a curious case for the 49ers but they reportedly won't pick up his option.
