There is obviously a glut of storylines leading up to Super Bowl XLVII. The brothers Harbaugh have been -- and will be -- discussed at great length. It could be the last game for Ravens safety Ed Reed. It is the last game for Ray Lewis.
But there is one, under-the-radar angle that has been overlooked. Lewis' first career sack was of San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, in 1996. At the time, Harbaugh was the quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts and Lewis was playing in his sixth career game.
It's amazing that, of Lewis' 41.5 sack victims, he'd meet his first in his final game, a Super Bowl. For his part, Harbaugh was asked earlier this month about being Lewis' first victim. Harbaugh said he didn't find out until recently, when his father told him.
"No, I didn't know that. ... My dad called me up and said he was in Baltimore and some of the writers there had mentioned it to him," Harbaugh said.
"My legend grows. Ray Lewis' first sack."
