We all thought Greg Jennings was leaving Green Bay.
But NFL.com's Ian Rapoport tweeted Sunday he's hearing the Packers are still considering placing the franchise tag on the 29-year-old wideout, which would cost the team $10.4 million.
“Interesting to hear the #Packers are still considering franchising Greg Jennings. Thought that ship had sailed. Apparently not,” Rapoport tweeted.
For months, CBS Sports' NFL insider Jason La Canfora has expected the Packers and Jennings to part ways. Randall Cobb, James Jones and Jordy Nelson combined for 193 receptions, 2,483 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns last season while Jennings was limited to eight games due to a groin injury.
In January, Jennings put his house near Lambeau Field up for sale. He told NFL Network this month he wouldn't mind joining former offensive coordinator Joe Philbin in Miami.
From 2008-10, Jennings amassed more than 1,100 receiving yards every year and made two Pro Bowls. But his recent injury history might soften the market.
A report Friday in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel suggested the Packers would try to re-sign Jennings if he lowered his price.
Teams have until March 4 to use the franchise tag.
